Today we’re welcoming our Hosting Support Manager, Kevin Pirnie, to our Employee Spotlight series. Kevin has been apart of emagine’s team for almost 2 years. Before we begin, let’s hear what his boss had to say about him:

With his expansive knowledge of both Windows and Linux server systems, Kevin’s technical acumen and eagerness to provide seamless support has been the key factor in successfully maintaining emagine’s hosting infrastructure and supporting hundreds of client’s websites and mission-critical applications.” – Brett Cohen, CEO

1. As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A grown up, but now that I am there, I want to be a kid again :).
Actually, I wanted to be a school teacher or a rock singer.

2. In your own words, what is your job description?

I get to manage 104 web, database, and email servers for a multitude of clients under both windows and linux environments. Mostly helping clients manage their web sites and email, as well as helping internal employees.

3. What is your favorite aspect of your job?

Helping our company and teams grow and become a leader in our industry. I’m excited to be a part of it, and see how we are evolving. My absolute, most favorite aspect is getting to launch a nice looking site :). There’s just something about being able to take a step back, look at it, and saying to yourself; “Wow! I was part of that.” That is extremely self-gratifying, even if you didn’t design it.

4. Favorite project/event you’ve worked on? Why?

Hmm…. Tough one here, only because I’ve worked on a lot of projects over the last 15 years. Although one of my more rewarding projects was nothing more than supporting a long time client’s site, and educating them on how to manage the content in their site but they are one of the nicest people I have ever had the opportunity to talk with. You know, really, everyone I talk with is nice, and that certainly helps the days go by well!

5. What advice do you have for someone looking to pursue a career in your industry?

Experience, Experience, Experience. And, look for the easy route, not everything is as complicated as it seems.

6. When you’re not working, what are you most likely doing?

Hanging out with my family (mostly playing with my 2yr old granddaughter :D)

7. Do you have any “hidden talents”?

In my previous life I was the Wizard of Oz. Just ask Dawn 😉
My real hidden talent: I get to do my hobby for a living 😀
