What is GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was designed to keep all EU citizens protected from data and privacy breaches given the data-driven world we now live in. As part of this regulation, there are two key website changes that organizations need to implement before the fast approaching deadline. Here’s what you need to know:

When is the deadline?

May 25th, 2018. Penalties for those who do not comply with GDPR are severe – up to 4% of annual global turnover or €20 million.

Who does the GDPR affect?

The GDPR not only applies to organisations located within the EU but it will also apply to organisations located outside of the EU if they offer goods or services to, or monitor the behaviour of, EU data subjects. It applies to all companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the EU, regardless of the company’s location.
