Being a part of emagine’s Business Development team, I don’t get to actually work on our client’s websites; we like to leave that to our WordPress developers and awesome designers. Yet, what I do get to do is view a wide variety of B2B websites as I try to connect with potential prospects. What I find from most of these enterprise-level websites is a blatant lack of passion and care for their website. This tends to make users like myself, feel as though the company simply don’t care. So today I’m sharing two of the most common mistakes I observe on majority of websites.

A lot of times, I find myself scratching my head as I land on the homepage of a website and I’m not 100% positive as to what the company really does. To me, that is by far one of the biggest mistakes you can make for your company’s potential sales. Whether you believe it or not, users automatically form opinions and judgments about your business when they visit your site, especially for the first time! With only 20 to 30 seconds to make an impression on your homepage, your website must make a crystal clear perception of your business. You only get one chance to make a first impression. Don’t blow it.

With 91% of adults keeping their smartphones within arm’s length (guilty!), I am even more surprised at how many websites are not mobile optimized! Even more important is that 9 out of 10 mobile searches lead to action and more than half lead to sales! Oh and if you haven’t heard by now, Google is officially adding “mobile-friendliness” as a worldwide ranking factor. Is your website prepared to avoid a major ranking drop by April 21st? Don’t hesitate to contact us if not ;).

At the end of the day, you must look at it this way: Your website is not “just a website”. It’s an investment for your future, your face to the world and a huge part of your business reputation. What you need is a redesign. When deciding to redesign your website, do your research on the various web design agencies to choose from. The best agency is one that knows your industry and target audience. This is the key to setting you apart from the competition.

A professionally designed website from an agency that is tried and true with a proven track record, who truly understands your industry, will help your brand and make your business memorable. All the more reason to choose a reputable, professional, well thought out agency.
